Happy Black History month! This week, we reviewed and voted on nearly a thousand bills and resolutions, tackling a wide range of important issues that impact our communities, from education to voting rights.

This week, the General Assembly had the honor of hosting the Venerable Monks of the Dhammacetiya on the 100th day of their Walk for Peace. There was significant legislative progress made on the proposed redistricting constitutional amendment as well as a number of my bills.

The Virginia General Assembly does not stop for winter weather ... We returned to session this week amid snow and ice to work on legislation that will create a better Commonwealth for all Virginians. We hope that you and your family are staying safe and warm!

Federal funding plays a major role in this process. Because of this reliance, changes in federal spending directly affect Virginia’s ability to fund schools, health care, public safety, and other essential services. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. November was another busy month of meetings, including Election Day and Veterans Day.

Happy Halloween ... Time continues to fly by! In the spirit of Halloween season, our office wants to highlight the biggest “treat” of them all: Voting! The last opportunity for early voting is tomorrow, November 1st, and the official Election Day will be held November 4, 2025. While the deadline to register may have passed, please know that “Same Day Registration” (SDR) allows you to register in-person at the precinct and then immediately cast your ballot after!

Another busy month, lots of meetings! But, most importantly, early voting is open until November 1st with Election Day on November 4th. Please exercise your civic duty and get involved … make a plan to vote as soon as possible!

As July comes to a close, I wanted to share some highlights and legislative updates that have occurred across our different levels of governments, including local events, state legislation that went into effect this month, and an impact analysis of the "Big Bad Bill" enacted at the federal level.
